KRAVEN Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson Suggests His Character Will Become A Full Villain By The End Of The Movie (2025)

We’ll see though it’s certainly not the first time him becoming a full blown villain by the end has been insinuated…

The marketing has pretty much stated a few times essentially that this is the making of a villain and the director himself has called the film “a tragedy”but this could all be buzz words/talking points so you never know.

Anyway i think this looks alright tbh…

It may not be the portrayal or story of the character we want but him being more of an anti-hero in this aswell as the element of family drama certainly has precedent in the comics & other media so it’s moreso a loose adaptation then anything else it seems.

Why not be a villain throughout the movie?

@Arthorious - Hollywood doesn’t know how to do it. They don't know how to disrupt a movie script so you don’t need to empathize with the main character, or the need of an antagonist.

@Arthorious - Do you think villains are born evil? If you want him to be the villain, better check out the Spider-Man flick where he is the antagonist. If you want to see how he became a villain, check this one out. I mean, whats the point of a origin story if he starts out like that?

@SpiderParker - which Spider-Man Flick was he the antagonist in? The argument is making all of these should-be villains into misunderstood anti heroes. This movie is a waste of time, every non spidey Spider-Man movie is garbage

@bobevanz - The one that comes out in 50 years, Duh.

FYI, Morbius was always a tragic unintentional villain/anti-hero. You actually have a problem with Venom since he has been portrayed as a anti-hero from the get-go (even though that does happen later on in comics) but his origin involves Spider-Man deeply without which, it just doesn't work.

I even had hopes for The Flash and yes, I was let down again by DCEU. But at least I made up my mind after checking it out. Spider-Man's rogues' gallery is one of the greatest and you can't just absolutely say the villain origin movies won't work. Hasn't been done, doesn't mean can't be done.

@SpiderParker - the Penguin was a pretty messed up dude in his show and we are witnessing his rise to power in Gotham. So yes a show/movie can have a character start off as a villain but still give them their origins.

@Arthorious - First of all, its a sequel to a movie while also being a prequel. Secondly, it had 8hours of runtime as it is a TV SHOW.

Talk about comparing apple to oranges. I bet you loved the Snydercut and can't recognize why it sucks as a movie even though it sucks in general as well.

@SpiderParker - What's with the conjecture at the end? Can't we have a simple disagreement without it derailing? No the snydercut was bad the franchise was doomed when they made BvS a follow up to MoS

SpiderParker - 12/3/2024, 7:16 PM

@Arthorious - I would argue the writing was on the wall already when MOS came out. And the conjecture came cause you compared a origin movie to a sequel/prequel TV series.

Strangely looking forward to this one. I know (think) it will be pretty bad, but it looks so entertaining. I want ATJ to get more roles too, so I support this. I think he should be the next Bond.

Villain's rarely see themselves as the bad guy, and are rarely born evil. It makes sense that we would see what leads to him evolving into the villain we all know. That's the only way to do a villain origin story in a compelling way. To see how a man breaks bad.

AleSir19 - 12/2/2024, 8:52 PM

@TheVandalore - In reality (i am a screenwriter) and it is really easy and more fun to just do an origin story or a Bad guy, who is a Bad guy from the beginning...

Because that is how human Nature works, Breaking Bad is a great example of it, Even Better Call Saul...

Arthorious - 12/2/2024, 9:00 PM

@TheVandalore - what about Cobblepot?

Login to report abuse

TheVandalore - 12/2/2024, 9:32 PM

@AleSir19 - did you even watch those shows? Breaking Bad is literally called Breaking Bad because the man character Walter White is a good man and a good father and husband who turns himself evil and destroys everything he loved trying to save his family. He never saw himself as the bad guy until he made the decision to become the man who knocks. The show follows a good man breaking bad to try and raise money for his family. Walter wasn't a bad guy from the beginning.

Nor was Saul. Jimmy originally was a good, timid guy who became the sleaziest lawyer of all time over the course of his show. He didn't begin as a bad guy and get more evil.

Show me an example of what you mean where a villain is the focus of the movie and started the film bad and stayed the same character the whole film. Most of them are horror or psychological thriller films like American Psycho or Natural Born Killers, and can be fun, classic pieces of cinema, but are hardly common.

In reality? What reality is that? And forgive me if I don't take your "expert screen writer" word for it being "more fun and really easy" to right a origin story the way you imply.

TheVandalore - 12/2/2024, 9:38 PM

@Arthorious - are you referring to Oz Cobb? Yeah, the kid was a sociopath from birth, but his worse tendencies were nurtured. He was messed up from the jump for killing his brothers, but he wasn't walking around calling himself The Penguin from birth. He definitely had an arc over the show that turned him colder and more ruthless. Him killing Vic was the "big neon flashing sign" saying his villain arc is now complete.

And as for Oswald Cobblepot say from Batman Returns, his parents tossing him into the sewer and the people of Gotham abandoning him was what turned that Penguin cruel.

But I'm also not saying villains NEVER start out evil. It's happened. My point is the best origin stories often humanize the antagonistic protagonist to a degree so the reader or viewer stays with them for the duration. One dimensional evil villains are boring.

Arthorious - 12/3/2024, 11:36 AM

@TheVandalore - Makes sense, I agree with you. A good story shows that progression even if that person starts off a particular way. The one thing that I do feel that happens too often in Hollywood is making the villain sympathetic.

So are they still trying to do a universe

I'm hoping and wishing this makes less than Madame Web. Teach Sony a lesson once and for all. Aside from The last Spiderverse movie, nothing has a release date. Literally everything depends on Kraven. I suggest seeing anything else.. Wicked, Moana 2, even Gladiator.. or just wait for Nosferatu or A Complete Unknown. Down with Sony! Down with Sony!
